We decided to have a more free flowing event to round off 2023. After being inspired by Nottingham Tony’s ideas of “help me complete this game”, we offered a helpdesk session for the morning.

We never predicted that this would transpire into 2.5 solid hours of people taking it turns playing “Suika Game” on the big screen, no help required!

Including one of the final times where John just kept dropping them in the middle to see what happened. He did pretty well considering!

There was a bit of Dark Souls on the other big screen, but after a certain point, the rest of the day was “Just Dance”!

The only actually scheduled thing was the Christmas Quiz, which started at 2pm, to let any latecomers join in.

It was written by Dylan and consisted of just 30 questions.

There were some general Nintendo Questions, some NPUK specific questions, some anagrams and alternative names for games. The hardest round was the Anagrams with us having to go back to that and wait for people to work them out. The alternative names was a tricky round too, with many people falling short of the answers.

If you’d like to check out the Quiz (and answers), you can download them below:

With scores ranging from just 6 all the way to 17 ½ it was definitely one of the trickier quizzes!

After the quiz we fitted some Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in (6 races, with about 3 rainbow roads in) and then we got three games of Tetris 99 in!

We didn’t quite have enough time for the Christmas tunes on Trombone Champ, but we had a lot of raffle prizes to get through! Plus the trophies to award of course!

We changed the order slightly at the end: Trophies, group photo, raffle, quiz winner.
3rd place with 14 points was “Clobasam”
2nd place with 16 ½ points was “I’ll be down before you can say “Mixed Vegetables””
The winner of the quiz with the 17½ points was ” I’m a stupid moron with an ugly face and a big butt and my butt smells and… I like to kiss my own butt!”

Safe to say it was a very fun way to round off 2023, and we’ve heard from lots of you that you’ve really enjoyed our events this year! Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas, and watch this space for more fun in 2024! Cheers!
