September Salmonid Scramble 12/09/26

Everyone rolled in steadily from 11am, and originally we only had 9 signups for the league… but by the time we did the draws we had 15, still awkward, as Dylan wanted to do the groups in multiples of 8. We decided to do two groups of 8, but the person in last place in group 1 got a second go.

Due to the new upate allowing us to do 8 players on the same screen, the 8 player combo was a priority. The points doubled for this one, with two people on 5, two people on 3, etc.

It worked much better being able to use the big screen, and there was a bit of discussion about what chaos it could be on a smaller screen!
Walugui was spotted backing Waluigi too 😛

In between the league we had Splatoon Raiders challenges, where we invited people to try the arcade games, and try and get the highest score.

Mining, Em got quite far in on the big screen, but John got the highest score in the 7000s.

Landing was the longest arcade game, and every challenge allowed two attempts. Most people only wanted to try Landing the once!

Hopping was quite fun to watch, and so was juggling. But around 6 people took part in the challenges. Due to us having enough Squid keyrings for all of them, every person who took part won a green or pink squid key ring.

Round 2 of the league was next. We returned to Rhythm Paradise Groove.

This time, we played the first stage of the “rhythm tweezers” game, where you had to pluck hairs from a “folicularly fertile” onion.

second round was the second level of the Wrestle Sprint.

And we finished with Cake Wait 3.. where the mind wanders… we had a lot of laughs when the green guy popped up, and the room went quiet at various stages so the players were able to concentrate.

We ended up with a 2 way tie breaker between Em & Glyn so of course we went back to Mario Kart!

But this time it was SNES Mario Kart courtesy of the SNES online emulator. It was down to whoever fell of the track less!

Em got the victory, and chose the microphone plush.

We finished quite early, so John got out Pikmin 3 Deluxe for a session with Drn, and then we saw a bit of Elden Ring.

We did the raffle then had the group photo. Thanks to Fliss for taking this month’s group photo!

(We did have a few more people than the photo, but all the kids (except Axel) had to leave early.)

There was enough time after we officially finished to get a whole match in on Mario Tennis Fever, so that they did!
