It was pouring down with rain in the morning, but we never cancel for anything. Not even for the fact that co-host Dylan was out of town! Jen decided to go ahead anyway, and host it solo!
There was a small hiccup at the beginning because the projector turned itself off, but some quick thinking by a member and we were back up and running again in no time! (Usually Jen doesn’t deal with the setup and tech side of stuff, but this time she managed to set up the two Nintendo Switch docks by herself! )
We saw a bit of Pacman at the start of the day.
We started the proper content at the more relaxed time of 12pm. This gave chance for people to settle into their circles, and even get a bit of practice in for the Mario Kart League.
The first round was the newest wave, with a coin toss between the feather cup or the cherry cup.
Everyone chose their setups, and Jen tossed a coin. The first two groups had the feather cup, and the third group had the cherry cup.
We then had a half hour break so that some could grab lunch/snacks.
We came back at 2pm to play Everybody 1,2, Switch.
This was a free for all, because we wanted as many to take part as possible. We had 14 people, so that was an easy two teams of seven.
no prizes, just “fun”! The 20 minute game was chosen, and people were a little bit deflated when it chose the Cooking game (Kitchen Timer) twice, and had “Statues” which no one really enjoyed! It was all for the experience though! Jump Rope, half actually jumped, and the other half just flapped about with their phones!

We did a second round because quite a few wanted to experience “colour shoot”.
The second round we only had 7, but we had more space to move around, as it did indeed pick colour shoot. Statues again, and finally Bingo.
Colour Shoot, Jen’s leggings came in useful (again) but people were zipping around taking pictures of blinds, flipcharts, shopping bags, food packets, and people’s clothing.
The crowd seemed to enjoy it overall, but statues 2 was virtually impossible!
During the day we saw lots of different games on the other big screen including: Smash Ultimate, Lego Star Wars, Ultimate Chicken Horse, Baba is You, Patrick’s Parabox and more!
We had a short break again, then went ahead with round 2 of the Mario Kart League.
This time the rules were tilt controls only, and random tracks.
The only way of avoiding a multiple person tiebreaker, was if Glyn won his set, because it was against him and John, but with Em in that group, the competition was fierce. We had an epic ending though!
What a great ending to the event!
We of course ended with our raffle and group photo!
Over the day we had 18 people in attendance, and only one had to leave early. It was great to see everyone, and good to see some who were just home from uni for the holidays 🙂
