The first “Block” we encountered was before we even got in the building!
A great big Scaffolding truck had been parked immediately outside M-SParc’s door…
(It finally got moved by late lunchtime as the company owner had to get all the way from Amlwch to retrieve it, he was very apologetic, but also very annoyed, understandably!)
It didn’t stop our members from entering though, everyone was able to edge round it.
Eagerly setting up with the newly released “Tetris Forever”, with groups of 4 playing around 3 games each before rotating. (Time Warp) The session concluded slightly late, when Time had a 48 minute long episode where people were torn between cheering him on, and willing him to finish! Tiredness got the better of him in the end!
Onwards with the league. This session was the final one of the year, where we hoped to find out the top 3 placements so we can present the trophies at next month’s event.
Round 1 of course was from Mario & Sonic at the Olympics 2020, and this month’s featured game was “Dream Racing” – It was supposed to be easier (Given what round 2 would be) but quite a few were highlighting difficulties with the input lag. It was all about the ability to adapt, but it allowed the scores to mix up a bit, and keep the suspense for round 2!
There was a gap in between, as we decided not to have a main tournament this time. We got in a few races on Mario Kart 8D… a few people played their own solo games, or with friends in portable mode.
We had the usual dancers in the back too!
4 players then sat down for a 10-turn Mario Party Showdown.

Round 2 of the league was most people’s favourite, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. But of course it wasn’t your bog standard 150cc VS race, it had a twist!
The only items you could use were shells: green shells, red shells and blue shells! That definitely made things more interesting…
We realised halfway through that we were running out of time, (as nice as it was to have more people than average signing up!) so we decided to do the final two groups simultaneously. These were the most anticipated groups, with Rain in one, and Glyn in the other.
As soon as round 2 concluded we did the raffle, then the group photo, and just about finished on time bar a couple of minutes!
Congrats to Glyn, Rain and Em for claiming this year’s Trophies! They’ll be present to you next month 🙂
