We decided to finish the year with a more chilled meet. Not so much a mini meet, just a meet with minimal structure.
We had the Quiz at 1pm, but other than that it was a chance for freeplay and a catch up with friends!
We started with a Frog bag, and a viewing of “Old Man’s Journey” by Ffreuer.
People found their usual spots after drifting in from 11am.
Jen promised everyone that she’d get in a decent Mario Kart session and a Tetris99 session, so after fetching a bit of lunch, we got down to business!
We got 8 people on Mario Kart and did 12 races.
Of course, we had the usual dancers in the back 💜
We also played a 5 round Battle in Mario Kart, featuring each of the battle modes.
The Mario Kart session finished at exactly 1pm, so handed over to host Dylan for the quiz!
This year was different. He’d set it up so you could do it (via Google Form) on your phone, or there were paper copies available. All the answers were numerical and all but the last section was multiple choice.
People concentrated hard!
People who did it on the form got an instant result. The paper people had to be marked by hand, but the most common score was 16/30, with John taking the victory with a score of 23/30.

There was a gap after while we chilled a bit, so Dale set up Jackbox on the big screen.
There was a lot of poo and Tories featured! 💩
The “Oh Swizzle Sticks” gave a lot of giggles too!
Trivia Murder Party and Quiplash were the chosen games, and most of the room joined in!
We ended the sessions with Tetris99, and had up to 8 joining for a game. We played 4 rounds with different winners each time.
There was a bit of “empty” towards 4pm, so Rhys got a board/card game out!
“Just One” involved one person having a card facing the others with 5 words on, they had to choose a number between 1 and 5. The rest of the players had to write a word that linked to the main word, so the first person could guess the word on the card.
Cat fell apart when two of them wrote “Black” and “member” next to each other!
It was certainly interesting spectating and seeing how different people’s minds worked.
On one of the side monitors we saw Finn and his dad playing Mario Party.
Once it hit 4pm, we got the trophies and raffle ready!
Em and Glyn were ready, but Rain wasn’t able to attend, so Cat took her place for the photos. (with appropriate signage!)

We ended the event by pulling the raffle tickets, and then took the group photos.
The event may have finished in M-SParc here, but we invited everyone to a Christmas Meal in Table Table, so there were 12 of us to cheer for a great end to 2024!
It was interrupted by a weird bloke asking one of the girl’s ages… Thankfully because we were a large group it wasn’t too big an issue, but we laughed a lot when she turned him down and he said “your loss!” before storming off! (He did however get to chat to “Robert from Bridgend, which is in South West Eastern Wales :’) )
