It was good to be back for our first event of the year!
Back in Pontio, our most spacious venue of more recent times, we were able to spread out; though we started the day with no tables, so had to request them there and then, but staff were ready and able to assist, so we had enough tables for people in the end.
People started drifting in from 11, and we wasted no time by getting the new Animal Crossing DLC set up on the big screen.
At 12pm the schedule said we’d attempt NPUK’s Competition. We had a team of 4 ready to go, but I couldn’t work out how to do it, so let Drn take the reins on my controller to start designing. Newcome Noah was supposed to be involved too, but we faffed about trying to work it out, to realise that the only person who seemed to be able to visit my Slumber island, was Dylan!
Glyn had only recently acquired ACNH, so Dylan and him did quite a bit of trading (Noah and myself joined in earlier, but it ended up being just the two by the end, as Dylan had unlocked a lot more than anyone else in the room!)
In the rows of chairs we had a young newcomer (Eli) who had a Switch 1 with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, so contrary to our usual go to these days (Mario Kart World) a few got out the “old” Mario Kart and they had a few multiplayer races on that.
We carried on designing the Slumber Island until about 2.30, but some of the crowd in the back were eager to get some Smash on the big screen, so I eventually let them, and they played a good tournament led by Dale for the rest of the afternoon.
We ended with the raffle and a special group photo.
Why special? Because it was great to get 8 people on my island, posing for a photo on my piano; while having the actual group photo directly under the screen 😛
