We were a bit later setting up this time, but everything was in hand, and people started drifting in from 11 as usual!
It was a slightly more chill day again with no main tournament as two of our regulars had to nip out for an appointment, so we made space for that.
The league is the most anticipated thing of course so with the penultimate session due, people were looking forward to finding out what the games were.
We started off the day with a bit of freeplay on the big screen. We saw the newly released Pokémon ZA, and then John played a bit of Absolum with Drn.
Round 1 of league referenced the title of the event, instead of the usual Mario Party, we switched to Lego Party!
There were 3 mini games in the Lego Party round:
“Turning Heads” was all about memory and having fast fingers!
The second minigame was “Quick Bricks” – this was a bit of fastest finger but confused those who played cross consoles, as the button layout is different across different consoles.
The third minigame was “Read the Instructions” where you had to work out which piece on the second page did NOT go in the build on the first page.
After the first round concluded, the scores on one group caused a 3-way joint 1st, with Glyn losing out, oof! But of course the others were happily surprised!
Then we had what is becoming our usual “freeplay” gap.
Dylan had a go at “Kuukiyomi 4: Consider it” and there were a few laughs and comments about how considerate he was being on various settings
Platform 8 also briefly made an appearance with Dale, but we quickly switched to an actual Lego Party after it got a bit jumpy…
The other room saw just Mario Kart World scattered throughout the day.
Round 2, we were back on Mario Party Jamboree. To mark it being October, we had to feature Luigi, so “Luigi’s Rescue Operation” was chosen, which was 10 rounds of puzzles.
At the end we had two people who had the full 10 points.
The tie breaker ended up being back on Lego Party between Tessa and John with minigame “Wreckin’ Brawl” of which John took the victory! (Purple Die!)
Finishing off with our raffle and group photo, we finished earlier too! and it was nice to welcome newcomer Jess to our community 🙂 (We did have more people than the photo, but a handful had to dash off earlier than we finished)
