We’ve never done a Careers’ Fair before… that makes sense, but we were invited to attend this one, so I thought why not, if we can gather enough volunteers, let’s have some fun!
Three of us met at Eirias Park in Colwyn bay around 10am to set up.
We actually had three tables, because I had my own business to promote too.
Let’s start with the Tropic Pianist Gamer. This is my own business. (Obviously Nintendo North Wales/ Nintendo Players UK is the Gamer part of my brand)
You might ask what my business has to do with careers. Upon entering I didn’t really know what I was doing, but by about halfway through, I knew exactly what I was doing! I was teaching the younger generation that you don’t have to fit into anyone’s box. Find your passions and carve your own path in the world. Embrace the multi passionate, embrace the possibilities!
(I had copies of my book, as well as examples of my self published stationery)
Quite a few conversations were had about anxiety, and standing out/being unique, both with parents, as well as the young people themselves.
Table two and three were for Nintendo North Wales of course. I had helpers Cat and Rain with me 🙂
On one table we had our portfolio of photobooks, our poster, business cards, and some lovely freebies!
On the middle table, we had MARIO KART 8 DELUXE!
I think apart from the giant bouncy assault course behind us, we were the most popular table. Loads of people wanted to play a bit of Mario Kart, and rather than time trials, we had up to 3 players playing at a time. (With their friends watching from behind too!)
As the event was starting to wind down, a couple of other stall holders came over for a quick race.
It was a great day out for the three of us, and it was nice to hear Rain’s opinions on how the event went too:
“It felt weird to be on the other side of the spectrum when it came to younger people, yet enlightening. I really liked helping the public know what Nintendo North Wales stands for – a positive mental attitude when it comes to playing video games with your friends.”
Ended the day with a rainbow too! Perfect!
